Key points for selecting CNC vertical lathes

In the fields of heavy machinery processing, wheel hub processing, and construction machinery parts manufacturing, CNC vertical lathes have always been core and main equipment. Many processing plants only consider price and basic parameters when purchasing equipment, ignoring the structural rigidity, load-bearing capacity, and processing accuracy stability of the equipment. As a result, problems such as excessive vibration, exceeding tolerances, and long-term decline in accuracy are very likely to occur later.

CNC vertical lathes and ordinary horizontal lathes differ significantly in structure. The vertical layout is more suitable for cutting disc-shaped, large ring-shaped, and heavy irregularly shaped workpieces. The workpiece is placed vertically, and its own weight fits against the worktable, resulting in greater stability during the cutting process. To judge the overall performance of a CNC vertical lathe, the first thing to look at is the overall casting process of the bed. A one-piece cast bed has better vibration damping and is less prone to deformation during long-term heavy cutting.

Secondly, the spindle system configuration, including its speed range, torque, and bearing configuration, directly determines the roughing efficiency and finishing surface finish. Under heavy-duty conditions, insufficient spindle bearing load-bearing capacity will directly affect critical precision parameters such as roundness and end-face parallelism.

The type of guide rail is also an important factor. Linear guide rails are suitable for light-load, high-speed precision machining, while hardened guide rails have high load-bearing capacity and vibration resistance, making them the first choice for heavy-duty cutting scenarios. Different types of machining require completely different choices.
