Differences between CNC milling machines and ordinary milling machines

Milling machines are widely used machine tools. They can process planes, grooves, toothed parts and various curved surfaces. In addition, they can also be used to process the surface of rotating bodies, inner holes and cut off. When the milling machine is working, the workpiece is mounted on the workbench or on accessories such as the indexing head. The rotation of the milling cutter is the main motion, supplemented by the feed motion of the workbench or the milling head, and the workpiece can obtain the required processing surface. Due to multi-tool intermittent cutting, the productivity of the milling machine is relatively high. Simply put, a milling machine is a machine tool that uses a milling cutter to mill workpieces.

The main motion of both CNC milling machines and ordinary milling machines is the rotation of the milling cutter, and the feed motion is the linear motion or rotation motion of the workpiece perpendicular to the axis of the milling cutter.

CNC milling machine: The process, process parameters, and relative displacement of the machined parts are written into a processing program in CNC language, and then the program is input into the CNC device. The CNC device controls various operations of the machine tool and the relative displacement of the tool and the workpiece according to the CNC instructions.

Ordinary milling machine: After the operator calculates the process, process parameters, and relative displacement of the machined parts, he manually processes the parts step by step on the machine tool.

Working principle:

CNC milling machine: On the milling machine, the process, parameters, and relative displacement of the machined parts are written into a processing program in CNC language, and then the program is input into the CNC system. The CNC system controls various operations of the machine tool and the relative displacement of the tool and the workpiece according to the CNC instructions. When the part processing program ends, the machine tool will automatically stop and process qualified parts.

Ordinary milling machine: The main motion of the milling machine when it is working is the rotational motion of the milling cutter. On most milling machines, the feed motion is achieved by the linear motion of the workpiece in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the milling cutter, while on a few milling machines, the feed motion is the rotational motion or curved motion of the workpiece.
